About Little Pink Rose Quilting & Sewing

For as long as I can remember, I've been involved with some kind of sewing. After all, every woman in my family could sew and it just came naturally for me to take up the pastime as well. I vividly remember that at the age of 12 I was already cutting into a pattern and making clothes for my barbie dolls, as well as teaching myself to cross-stitch. That was the start of my love for fabric and all things sewing-related. Since that time, I've been creating beautiful dresses and garments for others!

My first attempt at quilting went so badly, I determined that quilting was too difficult and consequently refused several opportunities over the years to finish piecing heirloom quilts that mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers had started. But eventually, a friend's excitement about learning to quilt was so contagious, it rubbed off on me and  I couldn't resist the urge to try my hand at quilting again!  With a Beginners Quilt Book in hand, I taught myself the basics and fell in LOVE with another aspect of the sewing world.

I dedicated 13 years of my life to homeschooling our two boys, while sewing for others when time allowed. When the youngest finished his senior year and I "retired" from teaching,  it was time for me to journey into a new chapter of life. As I considered what I wanted to do with my time, quilting & sewing kept coming to mind and a long-ignored dream resurfaced...opening a  fabric shop,  where I would be surrounded by fabric and those who love fabric!

The Little Pink Rose Quilting & Sewing online shop is the beginning stage of this dream. I began researching the costs involved in opening a brick & mortar, physical store front, it quickly became apparent that I would need to start small and grow into a full service shop, where women feel at home and have a place to create while connecting with others in their community.

I searched and searched for a unique name for the shop, finally concluding that honoring my dear Granny was the way to go. She was a woman who loved deeply and was the kind of woman I hope to be one day. I was her only granddaughter and her term of endearment for me was, "My Little Pink Rose." It seemed only natural to name the shop with Granny in mind, Little Pink Rose Quilting & Sewing.
